Why did we launch an affiliate program?
TravelDoctores grew without paid advertising. Since the beginning, almost every patient has found us through Google or, more recently, through AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity when they ask for an online doctor in the country they are in. That is the model we believe in: be there when someone actually needs a doctor, not interrupt them when they don’t.
But search has a blind spot. The moment a traveler gets sick is usually a physical one. They are at the reception desk of a coliving in Medellín, at a coworking in Barcelona, in a language school in Buenos Aires, or in a rented campervan on the road in Chile. The first person they talk to is not Google. It is the host, the community manager, the coordinator, the rental agent. That person often has no idea what to recommend, and the traveler ends up in a hospital emergency room for something that needed a fifteen-minute video call and a prescription.
The affiliate program closes that gap. It gives the person on the ground a simple, reliable answer (“scan this, a licensed doctor will see you today”) and rewards them for it. We are not buying traffic; we are paying the people who were already doing the work of taking care of their guests.
What does the program pay and how does it work?
The program pays a fixed commission per referred consultation, counted only when the consultation has been completed and paid. The amount is agreed with each partner when joining, according to their profile and expected volume. There is no cap, no minimum volume and no cost to join. You invoice us at the end of the month for the consultations attributed to your code and we pay by bank transfer.
One decision I want to explain, because affiliates sometimes ask for it: there is no patient discount. The code identifies who referred the patient; it does not lower the price. A medical consultation is not a coupon product, and a lower ticket would not allow us to keep paying our doctors what they deserve. What the patient gets from your referral is trust, not a rebate: they are hearing about us from someone they already rely on, in a moment when they need exactly that.
How the referral works, step by step
- You email us and we send you your unique affiliate code, embedded in a link and in a printable QR code, plus a short guide on how to present the service.
- You share it however fits your space: a sign at reception, a card in the welcome pack, a message in your community chat, a line in your onboarding email.
- The patient opens the link or scans the QR, fills in the consultation form and enters your code. A licensed doctor in their country accepts the case, the patient pays €33 and the video consultation takes place.
- Every completed consultation is attributed to your code. At the beginning of the following month you send us your invoice and we pay you the agreed commission per consultation.
A few rules that keep the program honest: affiliates must be a registered business or freelancer able to invoice; commissions apply only to completed and paid consultations; affiliates cannot run paid ads on the TravelDoctores brand name or make medical claims on our behalf; and self-referrals are excluded.

In Latin America we are starting with coworkings and colivings, which have become the natural hub for remote workers in cities like Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Medellín, and with campervan rental companies in Chile, whose customers spend weeks far from any clinic. In Spain the best fit is different: language schools, Erasmus and study-abroad coordinators, and relocation or immigration services that accompany newcomers through their first months, including the medical certificate many of them need for a visa.
Expat communities, hostels with a strong long-stay profile and international student housing also fit well. What all of them share is the same thing: someone who is trusted by travelers and who regularly hears the sentence “I don’t feel well and I don’t know where to go.”

What do we want to build with this program?
We are not announcing a target number of affiliates, and that is deliberate. The goal is not a figure; it is a network. I want a traveler to be able to walk into a coworking in Lisbon, a coliving in Oaxaca or a language school in Valencia and find, at the front desk, the same trusted answer to the same question. A distributed medical safety net, made of the places where people already go for help, connected to licensed doctors who speak their language and understand their situation.
For affiliates, that means a modest but recurring income for something they were already doing for free. For patients, it means fewer unnecessary emergency-room visits, faster prescriptions and a doctor who knows what a nomad’s life looks like. For us, it means growing the way we have always grown: through trust, one recommendation at a time, without paying for a single click.
