What to Know About Validity Before You Apply
Issued by a Spanish-registered physician
The certificate is signed by a physician with an active Spanish medical licence (colegiación). Whether your consulate also asks for an apostille, notarisation or a sworn translation depends on its own checklist, so confirm it before you apply.
Exact wording required by immigration
The certificate uses the declaration under the International Health Regulations of 2005 that consulates usually ask for. Generic letters that only say “good health” are often returned, so ours states the IHR declaration.
Evaluated by video consultation
The physician carries out a clinical evaluation by video call. Patients have reported acceptance at Spanish consulates in London, New York, Florida and Los Angeles, and at Venezuelan consulates in Spain, but acceptance is always the consulate’s decision.
Updated for current regulations
Our format complies with Royal Decree 1155/2024, which expanded the requirement to all student visa applicants as of May 2025. We update our template when regulations change.
