🩺 How It Works

Fill out a short form describing your symptoms, pay EUR 30 securely by card, and connect with a licensed doctor via video call — usually within 15 minutes. No app download, no registration, no local insurance required. After the consultation, you receive a digital prescription by WhatsApp or email if clinically needed.

Most patients connect with a licensed doctor within 15 minutes of submitting their request — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays. If you’re feeling unwell at 2am, you can consult us right then.

Yes. All TravelDoctores consultations are conducted in English and Spanish. Our doctors are fully fluent in both languages and experienced in treating international patients — tourists, expats, and digital nomads.

No. Everything works through your browser. The video call link is sent directly to your phone or email — just click it to join. No account creation, no app stores, no setup required.

Yes. If your symptoms change or you need further assessment, submit a new consultation request. Each consultation is EUR 30. We factor in your previous consultation history and provide continuity of care.

💊 Prescriptions & Treatment

Yes. After your consultation, the doctor sends a digital prescription (PDF) via email or WhatsApp — valid at pharmacies in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. Just show your phone screen at the pharmacy counter. No printing required.

Yes, if your case meets clinical criteria. Our doctors follow evidence-based protocols — including the Centor criteria for respiratory infections — to determine whether antibiotics are appropriate. We never prescribe antibiotics unnecessarily, as antibiotic resistance is a serious public health issue.

Yes. Prescription refills for chronic conditions are one of our most common consultations — blood pressure medication, thyroid medication, asthma inhalers, and other ongoing treatments. Your home-country prescription cannot be used directly at local pharmacies, but a TravelDoctores consultation resolves this quickly with a locally valid digital prescription.

Yes. Our licensed doctors in Peru and Colombia can prescribe Acetazolamide (Diamox) for altitude sickness in Cusco (3,400m), Bogotá (2,600m), and other high-altitude destinations. We can also advise on preventive use before trekking the Inca Trail or heading to Rainbow Mountain. Consult us before or immediately after arriving at altitude.

🦠 Conditions We Treat

We treat the full range of common travel health issues: traveller’s diarrhea, UTI (urinary tract infection), respiratory infections, sinus infection, strep throat, ear infection, pink eye, skin infections, altitude sickness, yeast infections, STI consultation, genital herpes, scabies, prescription refills, and more. See the full list of conditions we treat →

Conditions requiring physical examination, imaging, or emergency intervention cannot be treated online. Go to the ER immediately for: severe chest pain or shortness of breath, major trauma or uncontrolled bleeding, signs of stroke (sudden numbness or speech difficulty), high fever in small children, or any condition you believe requires immediate in-person care. We will always direct you to the appropriate in-person facility if your situation requires it.

Yes — this is one of our most common consultations. Our doctors assess whether your case is bacterial or viral, prescribe antibiotics or antiparasitic medication if clinically appropriate, and advise on rehydration and when to seek in-person care if symptoms are severe. Yes. Our doctors can assess symptoms consistent with dengue — fever, rash, joint pain after mosquito bites — and advise on management and monitoring. For severe dengue with persistent vomiting, bleeding, or difficulty breathing, go to the ER immediately. Dengue is most common in tropical coastal areas of Mexico, Colombia, and Peru.

💳 Payment & Insurance

EUR 30 per consultation. This includes the video call with a licensed doctor and a digital prescription if clinically appropriate. No hidden fees, no subscription, no insurance required.

After submitting your consultation request, you receive a secure payment link by email. Pay by credit or debit card — EUR 30. Payment is processed after a doctor accepts your request and before the video call begins.

No. You pay directly by credit or debit card — EUR 30 per consultation. No IMSS (Mexico), no EPS (Colombia), no SIS (Peru), no Seguridad Social (Spain), no local insurance of any kind required. Our service is designed specifically for tourists and expats who are not enrolled in local health systems.

Most travel insurance policies cover telemedicine consultations. We provide a full receipt and consultation summary that you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement. The EUR 30 fee is typically reimbursable under standard travel medical coverage — check your policy terms.

Yes. We issue medical certificates, fit-to-fly certificates, and travel health documentation digitally when clinically appropriate. These are accepted by most international travel insurance providers for reimbursement claims.

🌍 Countries & Destinations

TravelDoctores currently covers Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. Within each country, we have licensed local doctors who can issue legally valid prescriptions at local pharmacies. We are continuously expanding to new destinations.

Absolutely. Our service works equally well for expats and digital nomads who need ongoing medical support without committing to the local healthcare system. We handle routine care, medication refills, and acute illness for long-term residents too.

Yes. Telemedicine is legally regulated in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile. Our doctors are licensed local physicians who issue prescriptions through the certified digital systems of each country — Prescrypto in Mexico, and equivalent certified platforms elsewhere. All consultations comply with HIPAA and GDPR data protection standards.

You need a stable internet connection for the video call. In areas with very limited connectivity — jungle areas of Colombia or Peru, for example — let us know in the form and we will try to accommodate a lower-bandwidth consultation. WhatsApp is available as a backup communication channel in some cases.

🔒 Privacy & Security

Yes. All consultations are fully confidential and comply with HIPAA and GDPR data protection standards. Your medical information is never shared with third parties without your explicit consent. Our video call platform is encrypted end-to-end.

Our doctors will identify if your condition requires in-person care and refer you to the appropriate local facility — including the nearest English-friendly clinic or hospital in your city. The consultation acts as intelligent triage: it helps you get the right level of care, whether that’s a prescription, a specialist referral, or an ER visit.
